The Eagle

This is a fun watch for anybody who likes Rudolf Valentino. The Eagle is an extremely lose adaptation of Alexander Pushkin’s Dubrovskii – a novel about a young man seeking revenge on the rich neighbor who bankrupted his father. As if an adventure with the bear and falling in love with the enemy’s daughter were not enough, film has an additional feature of Catherine the Great infatuating young Dubrovskii. Dressed in the Circassian suit Dubrovskii – Valentino is a charm. There quite a bit more humor in this one compared to Pushkin’s novel. The one I saw in the movie theater was accompanied by the Alloy orchestra – people doing talented work to bring the experience of silent movies back to life. Their score comes with the Vertov’s Man with a Movie Camera.

Well, see for yourself and have fun!
